When clearing out my bedroom at my mothers house, I stumbled across two of our very limited t-shirts that our friend Steven at Struggletown Records printed for us. These 10 tshirts were made specific for people. For one reason or another, we never met up to trade t-shirt for money. SO, I have a white in a medium and a grey in a small. These were printed maybe 2 or 3 years ago and I absolutely love the design. £10 each. (+£2pp)*UPDATE* The Medium white tshirt is no longer available. The Grey with green print is still available to buy!!

THE SUTHERLAND FARM HOUSE SESSIONS.

https://thebarentssea.bandcamp.com/album/the-sutherland-farm-house-sessions

In March 2010, what was the Barents Sea went to a farm house just outside of Dundee to record a handful of tracks. 5 to be precise.
2 got remixed and can be heard on the ‘Greetings From The Devil’s Playground’ EP.
1 of the recordings still hasn’t been released at all.
The other 2 can be heard here.

"I’ve Got The Right Idea" was a song I had very early on, back in 2008. It stayed in the set for a solid 4 years. One of my favourite songs that this band had.
I’d probably blame the way these recordings were handled as the reason we don’t play it anymore. That and time.
We didn’t give ourselves enough time in the studio or have enough money to pay the engineer to mix and mix and mix. So instead we got rough mixes; planned on having Tom Mitchell (our guitarist at the time) remix them and release them properly.
Then came the moment when everyone realized they had too much on in their lives to do the band as busy as it was getting.
I had to start again, rebuild from the bottom and inbetween that I wrote another handful of new songs.

The one song that hasn’t been released and the version from this session won’t be released due to the fact we still play the song and it will be on the new release. Eventually.

SO. This leaves us with “I’ve Got The Right Idea” and “For The Record”.
For free, for you to download. Do whatever you want with them. Pay for them if you like. Or don’t.

They are now yours. Have them.

Here it is, guys! Our official music video!

We didn’t have a big budget, we couldn’t afford to get the guys through from Perth to Glasgow to film it and I didn’t have any of my equipment through here so I did what I could.

You can download this song off of the EP of the same title: Coming Home. available in our ‘store’ above.

See you guys on the road!

(Mosby the dog will not be with me, as much as I’d love to bring him and his sister)

I’ve been saying that since 2010…

Last night we played our first show back. It was a lot of fun.
The night belonged to Bear Arms who were promoting the release of their new single ‘Vultures’ (out on Struggletown Records). They killed it. Nailed every song. So tight.House Fires from Portsmouth were on first. Full of energy and anger. The singer was outside the venue with the mic, screaming on the street and running around the venue like a crazed mad man. It was awesome. The Barents Sea hasn’t played a show since March of this year and it felt insanely good to be back. We showcased nearly all new material and it’s safe to say that was one of the best shows this band has played. Everyone was so kind enough to watch us and pay attention. We’ll be back in Glasgow very soon (maybe before the end of the year!)
Thank you to everyone who came along to support the bands, bought some merch and had a good time.
See you soon, somewhere!

We will be playing three shows before the end of the year. Each one is just as special as the next. Our first show as this line up will be in Glasgow at the Bear Arms single launch in Flat 0/1. What a great night it’s going to be!
Book Yer Ane Fest is a really big deal to me and being asked to play it despite them not having seen the new line up is really honest and lovely of them to put that much trust in us. We’ll be playing on the Sunday in Non Zeros (what used to be Dexters).

Our first hometown show could not be on a better date. December 24th in The Twa Tams. Three great young bands with members all from Perth. I cannot express how much I am looking forward to playing this show. It’s in my favourite venue and all of our friends will be there!

This year has been interesting. For me personally, there have been a lot of ups and downs. But I’m ending this year on an up. 2012, you are one to remember.
